Mission Statement: Spectrum Theatre exists to engage and challenge the University and Charlottesville communities through provocative, socially relevant, universal, inspiring, and innovative performance with artistic excellence and professionalism. The organization holds an uncompromising ideal of pursuing, with artistic passion, the full spectrum of the human experience.
That’s a lot of fancy words. In a nutshell, Spectrum Theatre is a student-run theatre organization at the University of Virginia. Students, as well as members of the Charlottesville community (include UVA staff and faculty members), have been a part of Spectrum Theatre’s productions and we welcome all members of the UVA and Charlottesville community to be a part of our productions! We have put on well-known shows such as The Arabian Nights, Avenue Q, and The Fantasticks as well as annual productions of The Vagina Monologues and the student-written show Voices of the Class (based on first year admissions essays!). We work hard to put on great shows, but we also love to have fun, and want YOU to join us! To get email updates on the happenings of our organization, subscribe to our listserv at this link.
