Topdog/Underdog

Director: Horace D. Ballard, Jr.

Spectrum Theatre presents “Topdog/Underdog,” a play by Suzan Lori-Parks; directed by Horace Ballard. “Topdog/Underdog” is a darkly comic fable about the way identity can be defined by history. The play tells the story of Lincoln and Booth, two brothers whose names were given to them as a joke, foretelling a lifetime of sibling rivalry and resentment. Haunted by the past, the brothers are forced to confront each other through the motifs of 3-card monte and life in the contemporary inner-city. UVA students Andrew Page and Jesimiel Jenkins portray the two brothers.Performances took place Fri and Sat, Mar 24-25, 2006 at 8 PM in Maury 209.
